After just going on sale in June, the new 2014 Nissan Versa Note hatchback is already being recalled for a pair of bolt fixes.
Two notices on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website identify the recalls, the first for a missing lower body sill bolt issue and the second involving rear seat latch bolts.
According to Nissan, no accidents or injuries have been reported for either issue.
Lower body sill bolt recall
The first recall covers missing or improperly torque lower body sill plates on 7,707 2014 Nissan Versa Note hatchbacks. According to the NHTSA bulletin for this recall, affected vehicles were built from April 23, 2013 through July 3, 2013.
Missing lower body bolts may compromise the Note’s integrity during a rear vehicle impact. This increases the risk of occupant injury.
To remedy this issue, Nissan will notify owners and dealers will install and tighten to proper specification lower body sill bolts. The Nissan bolt safety recall campaign is expected to begin August 12, 2013.
The NHTSA recall campaign number is 13V324000.
Rear seat latch bolt recall
The second recall involves 7,782 Versa Note hatchbacks built from April 23, 2013 through July 5, 2013. In affected vehicles, the rear seat latch bolts may have been manufactured incorrectly, reducing their strength.
As a result of broken rear seat latch bolts, the rear seats may not protect occupants as they are designed to. This increases risk of injury.
Nissan will notify owners and dealers will replace the rear seat latch bolts at no charge. Like the lower body sill bolt recall, this recall is expected to begin August 12, 2013.
The NHTSA recall campaign number for this recall is 13V326000.
