If you've ever told your friends that you're the ultimate auto enthusiast, pay attention: from now until September 17, Shell is sponsoring its annual "Ultimate Enthusiast" contest, and the top prize is a week-long trip to Ferrari's stomping grounds in Maranello, Italy.
Entering the contest is easy: just visit Shell's Facebook page. After punching in your contact information -- and agreeing to receive marketing missives from Shell (or not) -- you'll need to answer three short essay questions, all of which cap their responses at 2500 characters:
- How did your passion for vehicles begin?
- If money was [sic] no object, what would be your Formula for Excitement?
- Why are you the Ultimate Enthusiast?
Then upload a pic that shows exactly why you ought to be chosen as the contest winner. Click "SUBMIT", and you're done.
Responses will be evaluated by a team of judges that includes Roger Penske and Craig Jackson (CEO of Barrett-Jackson Auctions). The top three finalists and their companions will be flown to the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona next January, where the grand prize winner will be announced. That winner will receive a week's stay in Italy, with a special tour of the Ferrari facility in Maranello and a day at the track with fabulous Ferrari rides.
All finalists also receive a year's worth of free gasoline, courtesy of Shell -- and if the grand prize winner belongs to an auto club, that club will win gas cards worth $5,000.
