Mitsubishi is recalling certain 2013 model year Outlander Sport crossovers for a potential suspension issue that may lead to difficulty steering or braking.
A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website puts the number of vehicles potentially affected by the recall at 305.
According to the NHTSA bulletin, affected vehicles were built from January 17, 2013 through January 25, 2013.
At issue is the possibility that an improper weld on the front left strut stabilizer may fail, causing damage to the brake hose or tire. If this happens, the driver could experience difficulty in steering and/or braking. Both increase the risk of a crash.
What Mitsubishi will do
Although a notification schedule has not yet been determined, Mitsubishi plans to notify owners and dealers will inspect affected vehicles and replace the front left strut assembly, if necessary. The service will be performed at no charge.
In the meantime, owners of 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport crossovers with any questions or concerns may contact Mitsubishi at 1-888-648-7820.
