3M Paint Defender Tested: Does DIY Paint Protection Work? Page 2

Follow Joel

3M Paint Defender

In all honesty--much like that film you always think you're going to get right on your smart phone, it's tough to get absolutely perfect results. Not long after applying ours with somewhat imperfect results, we removed it for exactly that reason. But realistically, and considering its price point, we can see more enthusiasts using Paint Defender as an extra defense for track days or long road trips.

If that sounds like a criticism, it's not. To the point, all this product needs to be perfect is a little patience. We're confident that DIY people who can follow directions and be patient can get some really good results with this--and avoid those expensive trips to the body shop.

Paint Defender is available now at AutoZone and Amazon for $44.99.

  1. It may add some protection but on the beauty side. It adds ugly orange peel on the paint, eewww. See how it goes on others before you actually DIY it on your car.
