The real trouble spot in Detroit, though, appears to be Chrysler. CR only recommends one model each from the Dodge and Jeep brands: the Dodge Durango and the V6 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The magazine notes that the highly anticipated Dodge Dart is better than some of the company's previous compact sedans, but it's no match for the competition. (Many of you have expressed similar feelings.) CR's major beef with Chrysler is its aging lineup -- something that's beginning to change, now that the company's tie-up with Fiat is finally beginning to produce results.

  1. So CR bashes the American branded cars again. And the sun rose in the east and will set in the west, and CR still makes a better bird-cage liner.

    Bad stuff?

  2. So, Ted, CR's "report card," - based on objective measurements, road tests by professional car testers, unbiased repair and reliability data, and owner observations - counts as "bashing?"

How about "honest evaluation?" What specifically in CR's observations do you disagree with? Or is your comment based on good ole 'Merican jingoism?

  3. Some people Ted Schmitt included have "blinders" on when it comes to the domestic auto makers. And with all the objective measurements, professional road testing, unbiased repair and reliabilit data and owner observations they wil never believe the Asian brand beat and top the domestics. We own a 2003 Honda CR-V with close to 92,000 miles on it and never once has it had a mechinal break down or failed to start. It still has it's original hoses, belts, sprak plugs and lights (headlight, tail light and interior). The only item replaced were the battery and tires. No domestic brand can claim that I bet.

To some people David hate hearing the truth.
