When it goes on sale later this month, the fourth-generation 2013 Nissan Pathfinder three-row, seven-passenger crossover will be priced from $29,085, including an $825 destination charge.

Six versions of the Pathfinder are available, including the base Pathfinder S, SV, SL, SL Premium, Platinum and Platinum Premium. The top-of-the-line Pathfinder Platinum Premium in all-wheel drive (AWD) starts at $41,595.

Dramatic new styling is only one of the key differences in the 2013 Pathfinder, which morphed from a truck-based SUV into a crossover with its redesign, shedding 500 pounds in the process.. All versions are powered by a 260-horespower 3.5-liter V-6 engine, paired with continuously variable transmission (CVT). Nissan has dropped the V-8 engine in the 2013 lineup.

While official EPA numbers are not yet available, Nissan expects the front-wheel drive (FWD) Pathfinders to achieve 20 mpg city/26 mpg highway. AWD models are expected to get 19 mpg city/25 mpg highway.

Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels (16-inchers were standard on 2012 models), and a 4.0-inch color LCD screen in the instrument cluster. Higher trim levels include 20-inch wheels, leather seats, heated and cooled seats, a 13-speaker Bose audio system, an 8.0-inch color touchscreen navigation system, Around View Monitor, and panoramic sunroof.

Still a seven-passenger vehicle that can tow up to 5,000 pounds, the 2013 Pathfinder has better packaging inside than the outgoing model. Nissan calls it a “full-sizer” inside. With all seats in use, there’s up to 16 cubic feet of cargo space. With the third-row seat folded flat, there’s more than 41 cubic feet. With the second and third rows down, the cargo capacity increases to 79.8 cubic feet. There is also underfloor storage for even more cargo-carrying capability.

Optional features include a $400 trailer tow package, $1,850 dual-DVD entertainment system, and $2,650 SL Premium package.

  1. I don't know about this new generation Pathfinder. It just doesn't work for me. Nothing about it says "insurgent" or "fill me with fertilizer and blow me up in Times Square".
