Mitsubishi Gives You The Day Off With A 2012 Outlander Sport (Video)

April 18, 2012

Spring has sprung, and you're itching to hit the showrooms for some test drives. The only thing standing in your way is this stupid thing called "work".

No problem: if play your cards right -- and if you live in the right county -- Mitsubishi will send over a temp to keep your cubicle warm, while you skip out and spend the day cruising in the 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.

Start by visiting TempDrive.MitsubishiCars.com and taking a gander at the Outlander Sport's three trim levels: ES, SE, and SE AWC. Then choose the one you'd like to test drive by clicking "Select" at the bottom of the page.

(Note: before you do that, you might want to check out the videos of your potential replacements for the day. The temp pool includes a meteorologist, a rocket scientist, and an opera singer, among others.)

After you've signed up using Facebook or the standard email addy and password, you're done. At midnight on May 4, the sweepstakes will close, and Mitsubishi will draw winners by May 8. Presumably, there'll be at least three winners since there are three variants of the Outlander to test, but Mitsubishi isn't very clear on details.

Before you get all excited about the possibility of scoring a day off from work and some time in the social media spotlight (because, of course, winners and temps will be constantly filmed), there's a catch. According to the official rules and regulations (PDF), the only folks eligible to participate in the "Day Off" program are "residents in or from Nassau County, New York, Suffolk County, New York, Orange County, California and Marion County, Indiana".

Yeah, and Mitsubishi wonders why its market share in the U.S. isn't larger.

Anyway, if you happen to live in one of those four counties, you can watch the clip below for a bit more information. The rest of us will be hoarding our sick days so we can spend the day testing something a tad less exclusive.
