Among the product introductions making news at the Geneva Motor Show, the full reveal of the redesigned 2013 Lexus RX luxury crossover line includes the RX 350, RX 450h, and a new model, the RX 450h F-Sport.

Our sister publication MotorAuthority has the straight scoop direct from the show floor in Geneva, so head over there for full details. But since the RX line comprises the top-selling crossovers from Lexus, we’ll cover some of the highlights here.

Design changes – inside and out

It’s all in the looks when it comes to a minor revamp, especially in a luxury model. The most noticeable exterior changes in the 2013 Lexus RX 350 include the aggressive spindle grille, new design in the headlights and bumper, and LED daytime running lights.

But there’s also something different in the interior of the luxury crossover. Designers paid extra attention to the steering wheel, redesigning it to be more comfortable and relaxing for the driver.

Look for metallic accents around the glove box while other features now standard include power rear door and USB/iPod/MP3 control.

Performance

No changes in the powertrain for the RX 350, which sticks with the 290-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine matched with six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. Consumers can choose from front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

In the RX 450h, power comes from the same 3.5-liter V-6 paired with Lexus Hybrid Drive for a total output of 295 horsepower. Fuel efficiency is EPA-rated at 32 mpg city/28 mpg highway in front-wheel drive and 30/28 mpg with all-wheel drive.

New model

Families looking for a little more sport in their green Lexus crossover have a new model to consider, the 2013 Lexus RX 450h F-Sport. As MotorAuthority remarks, “this is the first time that Lexus is attaching its F-Sport title, and all the subtle performance upgrades that go with it, to a hybrid.”

In the U.S., the RX 450h F-Sport will be available as a sport appearance package and will include “superchrome”-finished 19-inch wheels, revised headlights and a unique front bumper.

Look for the 2013 Lexus RX lineup in dealer showrooms beginning this fall.
