According to Automotive News Europe, the SUV planned to replace both the Jeep Compass and Patriot, has been delayed until 2014.

Originally intended to go into production in 2013, the code-named B-SUV has been delayed so that Fiat can expedite engineering on its European products, like the Sedici compact. The delay also means a one-billion-Euro expansion of Fiat's Mirafiori plant will be pushed back to late 2013. The delays come after Fiat performed a spending review regarding future investments.

The B-SUV is reported to be smaller than both the current Jeep Compass and Patriot, and will be sold in both the United States and in Europe, along with other markets.

We'll continue to bring you news as more details trickle out regarding the B-SUV, until then make sure to read our latest reviews of the 2012 Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot.

  1. I really like the Jeep Patriot, but that crappy Nissan CVT is the only thing holding me back. They would have been better off putting a 4-speed automatic in. I know both the Compass and Patriot are selling fairly well, but a co-worker's wife bought a new Compass and it is very nice, but he doesn't like the feel of the CVT either.

  2. I honestly didn't know that Jeep sourced a CVT from Nissan. Their cars suck

  3. This article has a mistake in it. The B-platform SUV is delayed a year to 2014 as the article contents state, but the headline is wrong. The Patriot and Compass are C-platform models and their replacement is not delayed. The latest information I have is that they are both being dropped and being replaced by a single new model (most likely similar looking to Patriot but maybe different name) that is a raised 4x4 modification of the new Dodge Dart (CUSW platform).

The Liberty is also discontinued and will be replaced by a new platform DUSW model (an enlarged version of CUSW). It supposedly looks like an enlarged Compass or shrunken Grand Cherokee--name is unknown and might be called Liberty or Compass or Cherokee.

  4. Well iI don't think that the title is bad. Three days ago The CEO of Chrysler gave an interview to a magazine and he confirmed that the Compass will be replaced in august 2014. Here is the link of the article (http://www.carnews.com.mx/?p=11225)

  5. As for the B-platform, or "small wide" or "BUSW", it is coming to America first as the Fiat 500L and as the Fiat Sedici first--the Jeep will be a raised, ruggedised 4x4 version separate from the Compass/Patriot replacement but has been deferred so the Fiat models can stay on schedule.
