Technology

The 2013 CX-5 has an all-new 5.8-inch touch screen with intuitive phone, audio and navigation functions. Steering-wheel controls make operating the infotainment system easier. Other tech features include USB and audio jack connections in the center console storage bin and accessible via the infotainment touch screen, advanced keyless entry and push-button start.

Available tech features include a nine-speaker Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound System with Audio Pilot, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and iPod audio playback, HD Radio technology, and a TomTom technology-based navigation system.

Safety features

With safety an important buying consideration for families, Mazda has equipped the 2013 CX-5 with six airbags, four-wheel disc brakes, anti-lock brakes (ABS), daytime running lights, active headrests, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with traction control, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Optional safety technology includes a Blind Spot Monitoring System, adaptive front lighting with auto-leveling bi-xenon headlamps, and a rearview camera with distance guidelines.

The 2013 Mazda CX-5 will be in dealer showrooms in early 2012, available in Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trim levels. Pricing has not yet been released, but will slot in beneath the larger CX-7 crossover, which starts at about $22,000.
