2009-2011 Honda Pilot Recalled For Seat Belt Flaw: Recall Alert

September 12, 2011
Honda is recalling 310,773 Pilot SUVs built between March 13, 2008 and August 30, 2011. At issue is incomplete or missing stitching on both driver and front passenger seatbelts, where the lap belt portion joins the outboard seatbelt anchor plate. In the event of a crash, an improperly stitched seatbelt may detach from the anchor webbing, increasing the risk of injury.

Honda has received reports of two seat belt detachments to date, and it is unknown if either event resulted in occupant injury. Honda will contact Pilot owners by mail when the recall begins on or about October 3. Dealers will inspect the driver and front seat passenger seatbelts, and will replace the assemblies if necessary.

Owners with questions or concerns can reach Honda’s customer service at 800-999-1009, or they may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 for the latest information on this recall.
