Family car buyers looking for a greener and more upscale alternative to the Chevrolet Volt, take heart. Cadillac has just received the green light for a 2014 production version of the Cadillac Converj Concept.
Astute readers will recall the Converj Concept was a smash hit at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, just shortly before the project was officially killed.
Now, the luxury Cadillac coupe has been resurrected and is back in the product plan, according to inside information ferreted out by our sister publication, GreenCarReports.
The Volt-based electrified Cadillac will likely carry a different moniker than the difficult-to-spell Converj when it comes to market in 2013 as a 2014 product. But it will showcase the “Generation 1.5 Voltec powertrain,” and will still sport a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
Of course, being a Cadillac, expect a few more goodies pertinent to the top-echelon GM brand when the electric Caddy luxury coupe makes it into prime-time.
