We've known the Cadillac ATS and XTS are coming, but didn't have confirmed dates until now. This morning production of both the XTS and ATS was confirmed via Twitter, and shortly after announced on GM's media site.
The ATS is being used as a codename for Cadillac's upcoming compact luxury sports sedan. We aren't sure what the production name will end up being, but ATS doesn't sound too bad to us, and fits with Cadillac's current naming structure.
This compact luxury sedan will ride on a new rear-wheel/all-wheel drive platform. It will compete with the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Audi A4 for the compact luxury crown. Cadillac says the ATS will launch during the summer of 2012.
It was also announced that the XTS full-size luxury sedan will launch during the spring of 2012. The XTS will be front-wheel drive with all-wheel drive as an option. We've seen a preview of the XTS at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show when Cadillac unveiled the XTS Platinum Concept car.
Stay tuned for more updates on both the Cadillac XTS and ATS.
