2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

Remember when Toyota was pushing the envelope when it came to technology and reliability? It seems the tide has changed and now it is Hyundai that is making waves.

Hyundai has been offering an impressive warranty for years now in an effort to show consumers it offers reliable vehicles. Along with the warranty Hyundai recently started offering guarantees on trade-in values.

We're sure you've noticed, but Hyundai's vehicles are also quite striking. The styling on the Elantra and Sonata is downright terrific, and consumers are noticing. Pair that with a terrific value, and it's no wonder Hyundai can't build enough vehicles.

But will Hyundai become too large? Will it lose sight of quality and value? Will it become plagued with recalls? These are all things that have happened to Toyota.

Today we ask you, is Hyundai the next Toyota? Tweet us your response and make sure to include the hashtag #HyundaiGrows -- and you'll join the chorus right here via CoverItLive.

  1. Toyota will never be equaled. Toyota is a complete automotive company. it makes cars for every economic segment. most toyota's will last 2,3,4,5 and 6 times Hyundai's warranty. style's that are copy cat's of luxury brands to attract buy's just good design marketing. Toyota's are seen the third world as the only mode of transportation specially on rough terrain. Are Hyundai engines made by other companies. Nothing matches a Toyota. They are the Bench mark of the auto industry. UAW and government motors can recall this.

    Bad stuff?

  2. In R&D, the trick is to do your re-search (study history) before you commence your experimental research, which could be called scientific trial and error. Your team can make new mistakes but don't repeat the mistakes of earlier people. I'll bet that Hyundai has watched the grief Toyota has had from becoming too confident and will avoid that.

  3. In the USA, The big 3 and toyota is the only real full line car companies.
Hyundai is really a marketing company that is selling autos...sorta like Microsoft. They do not invent things, but other makes them for them. Windows will never match apple in inventing products. Honda use to design engines, but lost its way, like GM did in past years. GM is coming back and making engines, etc. as does Ford and Chrysler. They also have a full line of autos, trucks, with V8, 6s and 4s.
Hyundai is selling a good product with lots of options, which toyota and honda failed to do. Now, they are loosing the race. Hyundai will replace Honda, sooner than Honda thinks it will. Hyundai has lots to do yet on developing engines... //out of space..

  4. Was GM only a marketing company? In its heyday GM was an integration of many formerly independent outfits: Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Chevrolet, Hyatt and New Departure Bearings, Electromotive (Railroad Diesels), Allison, Fisher Body, Frigidaire, Greyhound, Detroit Diesel, and many more that I cannot recall now after leaving in 1967. GM built the gigantic Tech Center and the Milford Proving Grounds. In some ways, Hyundai is more diversified.
