2009 Mazda MAZDA3
Mazda has announced the recall of approximately 103,300 2008-2009 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 vehicles to remedy a potential defect in the windshield wiper motor ground circuit.
The affected vehicles were manufactured from January 7, 2008 through November 28, 2008. Mazda says that during assembly, the ground terminal of the windshield wiper motor may have been inadvertently bent. Over time, this condition may cause the windshield wipers to cease working.
What Mazda will do
Mazda is notifying affected 2008-2009 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 owners by letter. The safety campaign is expected to begin on or before July 15, 2011. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicles to Mazda dealers who will install an additional ground harness on the wiper motor free of charge.
Where Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 owners can get more info
Owners of 2008-2009 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 vehicles may contact the Mazda Customer Assistance Center at (800) 222-5500. The Mazda safety recall number is 6411F.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Safety Hotline at (888) 327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov. Reference the NHTSA campaign ID number 11V-329.
