2012 Volkswagen Passat

Volkswagen is about to launch the all-new 2012 Passat. It's bigger, it's built in the USA, and it's supposedly "German-engineered." But is it?

The last-generation Passat was an upscale entry into the mid-size sedan market. It was more expensive than the competition and slightly smaller. But it featured better materials along with a sophisticated suspension setup.

Now enters the new 2012 Passat. Volkswagen is touting that it is now much larger, especially in terms of rear legroom. The automaker also mentioned at the press launch how it feels the design will age well, where as the new Hyundai Sonata design might look so great in five years. VW also sees the Passat's significantly lower price (compared to the last-generation version) as a selling point.
