"Macho Man" Randy Savage, one of the most famous professional wrestlers of the 1980s, if not all time, died in a car accident today in Tampa, Florida.

According to his brother, Lanny Poffo, Savage suffered a heart attack while driving and lost control of his 2009 Jeep Wrangler around 9:25 a.m. EST. According to police, he veered across a median through oncoming traffic before hitting a tree head-on.

He died from his injuries at Largo Medical Center. His wife, Lynn, was in the car and treated for minor injuries at another hospital. Police said both were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol wasn't a factor.

Savage burst onto the scene in 1985, becoming known for his "Ohhhh yeaaaah" catchphrase. He also was the spokesperson for Slim Jim throughout much of the 1990s.
