Honda has issued a recall for up to 1,156 vehicles for a fault in the fuel delivery system. Included in the recall are all 2012 Civics with a manufacture date between April 21, 2011 and May 2, 2011.

The recall documents state that a misaligned O-ring sealing a union in the fuel lines is to blame. If this O-ring is misaligned, it can result in a small fuel leak.

A fuel leak of any size is a serious fire hazard, so Honda will replace the entire fuel feed line assembly free of charge. The NHTSA anticipates the recall to begin on or before May 27, 2011. Concerned 2012 Civic owners can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.

  1. Does anybody know where I can see the manufacturing date of my car? As far as I know this only affects cars manufactured in the U.S., correct?

  2. You can find it on the vehicle information placard (the roughly 5-by-5 inch sticker inside the driver's side door jamb. You will also see the VIN, tire size, tire pressures and paint code here.
