A luxury-sedan list wouldn't be complete without the 2011 Lexus LS includes LS 460 and 460 L. With starting prices that range from $66,230 (LS 460) to $74,080 (LS 460 L AWD), the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive Lexus LS are powered by a 380-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both deliver 16 mpg city/24 mpg highway. The LS Hybrid, the LS 600h (starting price $111,350), has a 5.0-liter V-8 engine and high-output electric drive motors delivering 438 total horsepower. Fuel economy for the hybrid is 19 mpg city/23 mpg highway. Editors of TheCarConnection say the LS sedans “deliver a luxury-liner ride and hushed interior, with some options that are unmatched by all but ultra-luxury brands, but they sorely lack driving involvement.”

There’s no question the four-door 2011 Porsche Panamera models’ styling inspire a love or hate reaction from Porsche purists, but if you can get beyond that, there is also no question that pure Porsche performance is plenty evident. Choose from seven different Panamera models, ranging from the $74,400 Panamera (300 horsepower, 27 mpg highway) to Panamera Turbo S at $173,200 starting price (550 horsepower, 23 mpg highway), and there’s something to like for just about every taste – if you’re after a four-door Porsche, that is. There’s even a Panamera S Hybrid (380 horsepower, fuel economy TBD) that starts at $95,000. TheCarConnection says, “There’s not much ordinary or traditional about this phenomenal fastback, and that’s mostly a good thing.”
