Whether you're in the market for a new car or just looking for some weekend R&R, you may want to pay attention to a new promotional campaign from Hertz.
The rental car giant began running its new "Gas and Brake" ads yesterday. The premise behind them is that there are, metaphorically speaking, two kinds of people: the Gas (i.e. the devil-may-care, over-caffeinated free spirits most often seen in Jack Black films) and the Brake (i.e. normal people). It's a simple, straightforward campaign, and Hertz plans to plug the ads everywhere -- on TV, radio, in print, and on social networks. Be prepared.
But that's not the important part. The important part is that Hertz is also running a sweepstakes that has little or nothing to do with the Gas/Brake campaign, and it offers you a shot at free stuff. To put your name in the proverbial hat, simply visit www.HertzGiveaway.com, provide your basic contact info, and you could drive off in a brand new Chevrolet Camaro SS. You can also play an instant-win game that might land you a free weekend car rental. Through Friday morning at 4am ET, Hertz is giving away one comp rental each hour; after that, through June 12 at 4pm ET, they'll give away nine weekend rentals in total.
You can enter once each day, and you're given the chance to tell your friends on social networks about the sweepstakes, too. If they play, you get an extra sweepstakes entry, and another shot at a free weekend rental. (Be sure to read the official rules closely, though -- they're almost as convoluted as this promotion.)
