They say sequels never do as well as the original, and by the time the third or fourth movies roll in the franchise is virtually dead. With that assumption in mind, the producers of the fifth installment of the now decade long Fast and the Furious series, Fast Five, must have been downright crazy.
Well, it appears that their craziness has paid off because Fast Five managed to rake in almost $84 million in ticket sales across the country this past opening weekend--the biggest opening of the year by far.
And how do fans choose to celebrate the occasion? With a parking lot burnout of course. The video below, taken after a screening of the movie in suburban Detroit, includes everything from a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution to several full-size pickup trucks and even a front-wheel drive Chevrolet Malibu.
Surprisingly, local police forces don’t show up until a significant length of time after the mayhem begins so go ahead and hit play now. You can also catch the most recent trailer for Fast Five by clicking here.
