Recall Watch: 2011 GMC Sierra

April 25, 2011
General Motors has issued a safety recall for up to 29.029 vehicles, including the 2011 GMC Sierra. The recall states that the rear axle cross pins may not have been correctly heat-treated. This lack of heat-treating could cause them to break off inside the axle.

This displacement could create interference and cause the axle to lock up, creating a risk for an accident.

Dealerships are inspecting rear axles in all 2011 GMC Sierras and replacing any affected axle cross pins free of charge.  If you require further information, you can reach GMC’s customer service line at 1-866-996-9463.
