2011 Buick LaCrosse Earns The NHTSA's Top Rating

April 25, 2011

Add another GM car to the roster of vehicles earning the Feds' top safety rating.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the 2011 Buick LaCrosse is worthy of a five-star safety rating.

The NHTSA has toughened its safety ratings for the current model year; as a result, many five-star cars from the 2010 model year have fallen from the top of the rankings this time around.

In the crash tests leading up to its final scoring, the LaCrosse garnered five stars for front- and side-impact protection.

The mid-size sedan earns a rating of 8.2 from our editors, who note the sedan "isn't just a good-looking vehicle; it handles and rides well, and when compared to its main rivals, it’s a value leader as well."
