Chevy is leveraging the power of social media to reveal the next generation of its all-important volume selling sedan, the 2013 Malibu. As the official release puts it, "The all-new Malibu will transcend time zones and embrace the diversity of cultures around the world," with a live unveiling on Facebook.
That's mostly a lot of pomp and circumstance, but it's yet another example of a major carmaker leveraging the power of social media to make a global debut of an important model--something we've been seeing more and more of lately, and something we'll see even more in the future.
The 2013 Malibu will be unveiled live from the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18th, and you can follow along at Chevy's Facebook page, or with live streams for iPad and iPhone.
Twitter gets a tie-in, too, with a question and answer session to be held immediately after the unveiling using the hashtag #MalibuReveal. The Q&A session will also take place simultaneously on the Malibu tab on Chevy's Facebook page, with Chevy personnel answering questions live in both locations.
