A couple of weeks ago, we brought you a teaser image for the next-gen Chevrolet Colorado Show Truck ahead of its unveiling at the Bangkok Auto Show. Today, Chevy has pulled the sheet off the truck, revealing a modern, forward-looking concept for what will be the brand's next global midsize pickup.

Judging by your comments on that preview image, the truck will stir some controversy with its styling, as many of the best--and worst--designs do. Chevy's global vehicle line executive Brad Merkel says of the design, "Although this is a show vehicle, the basic proportions convey the vision for the next-generation Colorado that we will bring to market."

The concept Colorado features a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine, 20-inch wheels and all-wheel drive. Don't expect the diesel here in the U.S.--a range of gasoline engines is far more likely.

Inside, the show truck gets motorcycle-inspired three-dimensional gauges light-colored leather, contrasting trim and dark wood accents, plus a host of low-gloss, soft-touch materials for a "premium feel." Whether this is pure show-truck frippery or a preview of a high-end model is unclear.

Full details on the production version--for Thailand at least--will be available later this year ahead of the first sales of the truck in Thailand.

    I like it. A lot. It's modern and yet tough looking still. Good to get away from the same old tired boxy look. Now, let's hope that GM brings this truck and Ford brings the new T6 to the USA.

    Would have liked it but then I read the turbo diesel will not be available in the states.

    WOW...sharp looking truck...only flaw...what is with that "half box?" The overhang is too Nissan/Toyota styled. Give it proper overhangs (longer in front) and a crew cab w diesel and consider me a customer!! Other than that another slick GM product!

    I have the 2005 Colorado 5cly. I can run it at 80mph. and pull down 22mpg. I hope that the l@@k holds it's own. If the have a LS and 4X4 I'll be buyin one as soon as it hits the showroom. Just buid it and we will buy it... I Love the l@@ks...

    Somewhat disappointed. The back half looks too much like a Honda Ridgeline and the front looks too much like the Traverse/Equinox

    I agree, it does resemble the Ridgeline a bit. The 20 inch wheels really spice it up. Hope they consider a SS option model with the 6.2L engine,6 speed manual tranny, & dual exhaust...Can you say Hemi Killer?

    Hopefully this model has a new electrical system other than the other Chevy crap that is out there. Gotta love seeing all of there vehicles with one light out all of the time! Regardless of what it looks like, it will be burning oil or have its door seals loose within 5 years...

    I really wish GM would replace the small trucks.. But from what I hear they are dead.. love the love of this truck.. it seem a step above what others are offering. And world beyond what they build now.. I just wish it did not have that bed cover on it ... I am sure it has a normal bed and not a Honda type bed... Great looking truck.. Ford has one too but it seem neither will be building them here or sendng them here.. Diesel with a stick and this new styling I would be buying
