Xatori has released a new iPhone app that will build a community of EV charging station locations. The goal is to relieve EV owners of what is commonly known as "range anxiety."

The app lets users mark the location and type, free or paid, of EV charging stations they come across. Xatori's goal is to build a community of users that rely on a cleaner type of transportation.

Since many EV owners will not exceed their maximum range often, the app is more of a backup plan which will hopefully make EV owners feel more comfortable while out and about.

The app is built on a network of volunteers that are open to letting EV owners charge from their outlets. While some wonder why someone would allow an EV owner to charge from their outlet for free, Xatori feels that people will be compelled by environmental objectives. Also, businesses can draw people to charge their EVs while also shopping at their stores. Electricity is a mere 15 cents an hour in most U.S. cities, meaning the expense is low.

Xatori's co-founder and CTO said, "Our mission right now is to have this be free and very simple...get as many people to sign up as we can."

PlugShare is available for free in the iTunes App Store.
