You might already have roadside assistance and towing coverage through an auto club or insurer—or because you drive a nearly new vehicle—but now there's another way you could be covered: by buying a particular brand of tires.

Under the so-called Michelin Promise Plan, those who buy a full set of Michelin passenger or light-truck tires will get three years of flat-tire changing assistance, in addition to the 30-day satisfaction guarantee and limited mileage warranty.

When motorists using Michelin tires purchased under the new plan get a flat, they can call a toll-free number and a pro will come out and replace the flat with their space—or the vehicle can be towed to the nearest Michelin-approved facility, up to 150 miles away.

Michelin, with its satisfaction guarantee, will also exchange the tires at no extra cost, including mounting and balancing, with no questions, within 30 days, if you return to the original point of purchase—although you might be pushing it if you've just been doing donuts around the Michelin Man.

This is actually the first time such a perk has been offered by a tire maker, although money-back or replacement guarantees are offered by several other companies.

For more information on the new program, see Michelin's Promise Plan page.
