As automakers look for new ways to connect with customers, they are becoming more open. Infiniti is about to be the first automaker to provide consumer ratings and reviews on its retail website. This is very ground breaking, and could set a precedent among automakers.
This new initiative launched today and Infiniti has already collected and published 900 reviews spanning seven different vehicles. These reviews are solicited from current Infiniti owners, and then posted to Infiniti's website.
Infiniti says in early 2011 it will allow owners to easily submit their reviews and ratings to directly to the Infiniti website.
Clearly the first question in our head was whether Infiniti would allow a negative review to be posted. Infiniti's Ray Daniels told us that while nothing is set in stone, the company plans to post all reviews, whether positive or negative. Mr. Daniels was quick to add that any review containing profanity will not be posted.
It is nice to see that Infiniti recognizes the power of a referral. This is a groundbreaking effort, as no other automaker currently offers consumer reviews and ratings on their retail websites.
