2007-2008 Honda Fit in Recall

2011 Honda Fit Sport

Some early versions of the Honda Fit sold in the U.S. are being recalled for a headlight problem.

The Japanese carmaker says its 2007-2008 Fit is involved in the service action. At least 143,038 Fit hatchbacks are included.

Honda says the wiring harness is routed improperly in the Fit. Because of it, the low-beam headlight wiring can corrode, leading to overheating and a failure of the low beams.

Owners will be alerted by mail and can bring their vehicles to their Honda dealer for a repair--which could involve replacing the entire wiring harness, as well as the headlight switch.

Honda says the problem doesn't affect the Fit's high-beam headlights, and adds that no injuries nor any accidents have been linked to the problem.

Notification will begin in January. For more information, owners can search out the Federal government's database of recalls at safercar.gov.
