Toyota Comes Up With A New App To Distract Drivers

December 15, 2010

Toyota launched a new app today for the iPhone, dubbed A Glass of Water. While the name may sound simple, it certainly doesn't give a hint as to what it actually does.

The app is meant to help users drive more efficiently. You start the app and place your iPhone onto your dashboard. As you drive, the app acts like a glass of water on the dashboard. Drive too aggressively and the glass of water spills. Clearly, the app is less messy than having a real glass of water on your dashboard.

The app will also record the driving distance, time, and fuel consumed, along with the amount of water spilled. Once you reach your destination, you can analyze the recorded data.

The app will upload all users' results to Toyota's website, so users can compare their water spillage statistics with other users.

The app is available for free in the iTunes App Store now.
