Unless you've been living under a rock, or really just aren't into cars, you've seen pictures of the beautiful all-new 2011 Cadillac CTS and CTS-V Coupes. Striking, bold and elegant, this Caddy single-handedly fixes everything that is wrong with the American automotive industry with it's agressive NFL lineman-like stance, shiny chrome accents and none-too-subtle hints at the performance abilities hiding beneath.
The regular old CTS Coupe is cool and all, but let's be real...it's all about the CTS-V. 556hp V8? Check. Six speed manual transmission? Oh yeah. 0-60 in...what!? 3.9 seconds!? Ok, a Ferrari California does it in 3.5. That's pretty close performance considering that the Caddy is hundreds of thousands of dollars cheaper. The supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V-8 puts out 551 tire shredding lb-ft of tourque to the rear tires. What does it feel like? Don't know yet.
Shamefully, I'm writing the "review before the review" (thanks cast of "Jersey Shore"). But I think it'll be a good one. The good folks at Cadillac are hosting a V-Series Performance Driving Lab at Mazda Laguna Seca in a few weeks, and yours truly will be there trying to get these things as sideways as possible. So look for my follow up review in a few weeks...if my hands aren't still shaking from the adrenaline.
