If you were one of the many that headed to the movie theater to check out the new summer action movie “The Expendables”, packed full of explosions, killer fight scenes, and an overdose of testosterone, then you saw the beefy 1955 Ford F-100 roll across the screen. Offering bullet-proof glass, a glove compartment full of high powered weapons, and Jet Li kicking butt in the back end, the baddies didn’t have the slightest chance.
Now Dodge is beefing up its own trucks. Ram has developed a new Outdoorsman model designed for, well, the outdoorsman. Dodge realized quite quickly that their largest demographic were people who hunt, fish, camp, and generally enjoy being outside.
The Outdoorsman model receives a trailer-towing upgrade, interior and exterior accessories, and all-terrain tires for whatever landscape is put in front of it, which are all standard equipment. Also standard are scratch resistant steel bumpers, and wheel lip moldings. The Outdoorsman package is available for the 2011 Ram 1500, 2500 HD, and 3500 HD, and will replace the TRX4 trim level in the Ram Trick lineup and will go on sale third quarter of 2010.
One of the most unique options for the Outdoorsman model is the available Mopar RamBox Holster. This is where Jet Li and some serious butt-kicking could come into play. The Mopar Rambox Holster is designed to fit into the Ram 1500’s exterior storage bins on the sides of the truck bed. It is capable of holding six fishing poles, or if you are the hunting type, two shotguns or rifles, with scopes.
The RamBox can be rotated 90 degrees to either hold on item or the other. Retention straps with flexible ribs hold the guns securely in place, while uniquely tooled slots and a set of retention straps grasp the fishing rods in place.
The RamBox will be at dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2010 for a suggested retail price of $205. And if you were wondering, Jet Li not included.
