Dodge Magnum

An attempt to make station wagons cool and masculine, the Magnum put V8 power under the hood of an old-fashioned family hauler with a massive upright grille and a name drawn from the world of firearms.  It may give its drivers a little too much attitude.  It earned the highest risk category in five of six types of claims in this year's report.  Rumor has it that Dodge may bring the Magnum name back for a midsize SUV next year.  Then again, they may not want its reputation back.

Mercedes-Benz CLS

The gorgeous CLS launched an entirely new category of car, the "four-door coupe," with copycats in the form of the VW CC and the upcoming  Audi A7 and BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe.  It's actually not involved in terribly many accidents.  The issue with the CLS is cost more than frequency.  The IIHS rated it a high risk in just two of six categories, but the average cost of comprehensive and collision claims filed by CLS drivers was so high that the car earned a place on the list of the five biggest risks to insurers.
