It sounds so 1999, but the SUV is showing signs of life.
By some measures, SUVs are the fastest-selling category of new car this summer. If you're counting by days' worth of inventory, utes like the Audi Q7 are among the vehicles in shortest supply in dealer lots as automakers ramp up for the 2011 model year.
SUVs are all over your TV--you've seen the ads for the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and its All-American heritage (sure, it's owned by the Italians now, but it's built in Detroit), and we're sure you caught some of the world premiere of the 2011 Ford Explorer last week across the country, and all over Facebook.
Americans are buying more SUVs again, at a rate that's left some showrooms empty. Still, a handful of sport-utes are being left out of the rush--which is great news for car shoppers, since slack demand makes it possible to walk away with one for a bargain price.

One of the most versatile crossovers, the Edge looks stylish, drives like a sedan, and hauls a family and all of its gear with ease. With the available SYNC infotainment system, it offers better connectivity than many luxury vehicles sold for twice its price. TrueCar.com rates the Edge as a Potential Deal, with the average Edge selling for 13.9 percent below the sticker price.
