Recall Alert: 2010 Ford Transit Connect

July 16, 2010

Ford's Transit Connect has been subject to a recall, due to a faulty headliner pushpin.

The recall affects 33,728 Transit Connects that were built between December 5, 2008 and May 31, 2010. According to the National Highway Safety Transportation Agency, those models failed Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 201, "occupant protection during vehicle impact." During testing, criteria for head injuries exceeded the standard.

Replacing a headliner retention pushpin located above the B-pillar on both the left and right sides is the recommended fix, and Ford will notify owners and dealers starting around July 19.

Owners can call NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), go online to Safercar.gov, or contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
