I read today that Ford may well be winding down Mercury a brand that once had a brand image, a car line and products that people once bought. And for the life of me, when I read that, I could not think of a single memorable Mercury car or commercial in the last decade.
Sure there are some models that I vaguely remember, like the Mercury Mariner, only because there is a guy with one on my street and I snicker every time I walk by thinking "he bought a tarted up Ford/Mazda that's a decade old design. What a loser!"
I could vaguely recall the Mercury Sable, but had to Google it to find it. It once had some style and design oomph, but that went the way of the dodo when Jay Mays and his horde decided to kill sales by making it a four-wheeled bore-wagon. And then I thought of the Mercury Cougar, much like one would recall a really bad fart that made you run away from your own self and into another room. That of course doesn't count the 67 Mercury Cougar, which in my mind had an more than an ounce of style, but rapidly degraded into 1970's design hell.
So what did I do to entertain myself? I surfed the web for the WORST Mercury I could think of, and this is what I found. Enjoy.
