2011 Volvo S60
The newly redesigned S60 is going to make a name for itself in the luxury mid-size sedan class. Boasting a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that can push out a strong 300 horsepower, it nearly demolishes its previous model, which was a five-cylinder producing a mere 208 horsepower. The feature that seems to be catching the eye of many consumers is the Pedestrian Detection system. By using a variety of sensors surrounding the car, the vehicle will apply full brakes if a pedestrian walks out in front of you, or behind you. While to an average human, calculations such as reaction time, and brake pressure must be considered, the new S60 can detect pedestrians immediately and prevent hitting one at upwards of 20 mph.
2011 Volvo C70
The C70 coupe that hits the showroom floor in 2010 is truly astonishing. With a vast array of features that Volvo buyers have been waiting for, the release of the vehicle is expected to be a true success.
Although the C70’s price tag of $41,000 and auto insurance premiums might not strike you as appealing, what does impress buyers is the safety features that come along with it. Volvo’s marketing campaign of “safety reinvented” is one of true valor. With intelligence that alerts you when you are being over-taken by another vehicle, shifting lanes, and stabilizing the vehicle all by itself, it’s no mystery why they will have a leg up on their competitors in the upcoming year.
