Mobile Ridiculousness: the Apple iPad Car Dock

USBFever iPad Car Dock

USBFever iPad Car Dock

You can pick your friends, you can pick your car--and now you can pick your friends from your car via Twitter or Facebook with the cutting-edge help of this spectacularly bad idea, an iPad dock for your car.

TheCarConnection's showed you the best installation of the iPad in the car that we've seen yet, but thankfully that kind of work takes hours and hundreds of dollars. USBFever's flexible in-car iPad dock brings down the price of entry for that kind of tech overkill, dangerously, to the masses. The $29 mount quickly suctions to the windshield of your car and in moments, you can tap the iPad's optional 3G signal and load up some Pandora tunes--or be chatting away on the somewhat useful e-keyboard.

As mixed as our feelings are about that use of the latest bauble from Steve Jobs and his merry band of future DOJ defendants, we're not convinced it's a good idea to have one so close to the steering wheel. It isn't just a temptation for distracted drivers eager to hone their Web 2.0 personas, it practically reeks of imminent twisted sheetmetal.

Don't get us wrong, we're completely guilty of obsessing over our iPad 3G in parking lots and other stationary places. And in that user case, this new iPad dock is a boon to keeping you in touch in parking lots--so you and @Oprah can Tweet back and forth.

Hey, ask her to unblock @carconnection and @martypadgett, will you? We haven't been able to pitch her our show concept in weeks.
