Report: 6.2-Liter Ford Raptor Hitting Showrooms Now

April 8, 2010

Pickuptrucks.com has a piece today on the availability of the 6.2-liter V-8 version of Ford's F-150 SVT Raptor pickup truck. We've known the engine was coming for a long time, and today, it's here.

Raptors with the 6.2 are available for the base price of $41,995. The uplevel engine puts out 411 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque, which is definitely a bit more than the 320 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque available from the 5.4-liter V-8 base engine.

The 6.2 has two spark plugs in each cylinder, a cast-iron block, aluminum cylinder heads, cast-iron crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods, and cast-aluminum pistons.

According to Pickuptrucks.com, of the 7,000 orders placed for the Raptor, almost 3,000 have been for the 6.2-liter truck, and the first delivery was taken by NASCAR driver Greg Biffle.

If big power is your thing and you haven't placed an order yet, there's no excuse now. The truck is arriving in dealerships as we speak.
