There are lots of perks that come from writing about cars -- test drives, nifty schwag, media days at auto shows -- but our favorite by far are the press releases. We don't mean the humdrum emails about new floor mats; we're talking about epic missives promoting "groundbreaking" products that are usually, upon closer inspection, the worst things we've seen all week  -- things like Emblem Alive, billed as "The Ultimate Vehicle Customization".

Emblem Alive is...well, we couldn't improve upon the press release, so we'll let it speak for itself:

Emblem Alive™ is the most impressive vehicle customization. It allows a car's emblem to actually be adapted! Using patent pending VeSAM™ technology, Emblem Alive adds motions to the car emblem. Motions include moving the emblem away from the vehicle at various speeds, twisting the emblem, etc. Precision actuators put the emblem in motion. Sounds are emitted by a high fidelity speaker system. The sounds match the make of vehicle. For example, a Ford Mustang can sound like a galloping horse! Actions are also available. Imagine the Ford Cobra spitting out water!

And did we mention? There's video:

The press release says, "You've got to see it to believe it." And after that clip, we totally believe it. We just have a hard time believing it's not an April Fool's gag.  It is, as Jeremy Clarkson might say, biblically hilarious -- as unintentionally hilarious as John Ashcroft singing songs he wrote himself. And that, friends, is the best kind of funny.

Another thing we have a hard time believing: that any self-respecting owner of a Ford Mustang would willingly do this to his ride. Obviously, 2010 Chevrolet Camaro drivers had more sense, since none could be found to host this bit of technology. (Look again: the Chevy bow tie is just attached to a grill.)

Just so you know, we took the added step of looking up this outfit online by running a WHOIS search on EmblemAlive.com. Turns out it's registered, not to JEPP Industries as you might imagine given the press release, but to Marcus Smith at Time4Me2Travel -- which is either an unreleased ballad performed by Prince and Sinead O'Connor, or the company that owns this terrible "travel" website. (Warning: turn down the volume and DO NOT click anything there. You don't know where it's been.)

All of which is to say that Emblem Alive is not only hysterical, it's also a little fly-by-nighty for our tastes.

Got a few minutes to kill? Enjoy Emblem Alive's press release in its full glory below.

Emblem Alive(TM): The Ultimate Vehicle Customization

Emblem Alive™ makes car emblems come alive with sound, action, and motion!

WILMINGTON, N.C.,March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- There are thousands of products available to customize a car's performance or handling.

There are even more products for unique interiors, exteriors, lights, and sounds. But, in the midst of all the products and kits out there, no one has been able to alter their car's emblem...until now.

You've got to see it to believe it.

Our product debut was at the 4th Annual Car Show at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Tri-Beach Cruisers Car Club sponsored the event. We had a very successful debut of the Camaro and Mustang prototypes, and wowed hundreds of visitors. Emblem Alive is unlike anything they've ever seen before.

The choices are amazing. The possibilities are endless. Emblem Alive is the way to make a vehicle stand out in a crowd.

EmblemAlive.com™ is owned and created by JEPP Industries, Inc.

JEPP Industries, Inc. was established in 2010 for the purpose of creating a wide range of innovative and cutting edge products.
