The high-performance Ford F-150 Raptor just got faster. Hennessy Performance has released an aftermarket kit that will boost horsepower past 500 and give the truck a host of other upgrades.
By supercharging the 5.4-liter V-8 and adding other upgrades like a K&N air filter, stainless steel exhaust and exhaust headers, and upgraded fuel injectors, Hennessy has extracted 501 horsepower, 520 lb-ft of torque, and a quarter-mile of just a shade over 14 seconds.
Buyers also get special badging, a one-year/12,000-mile warranty, and a professional installation, among other things.
I don't presume to speak for other editors and contributors here at AllPickupTrucks.com and at our family of High Gear Media Web sites, but I, for one, am all for more power, even if it comes at a cost--in this case nearly $15K on top of the Raptor's purchase price. Yes, a 500-plus horsepower truck that is meant to do its best work off-road is silly in this day and age. So what? It's fun to be politically incorrect once in a while.
It's also fun to see trucks like this smoking certain street cars on the drag strip, and I expect more than a few Hennessy-tuned Raptors to show up at fun runs and cruise nights. Even though this truck is best-suited to desert duty.
Hennessy plans on producing about 100 of these bad boys per year, and if you choose to do the installation yourself, you can save about $5K. That's a lot of money that can be put towards the aforementioned cruise nights.
