Autoblog recently reported that Toyota has expanded its recall related efforts to install brake override systems on select vehicles, including the Toyota Camry and Avalon and Lexus ES and IS sedan models. Several vehicles are reportedly being added to the list, including the Toyota Tacoma pickup, Venza crossover, and Sequoia SUV.
Autoblog indicated that Toyota will be implementing the retrofit on Tacomas and Venzas as an added service benefit for owners that bring them to a Toyota dealership for other recall-related repairs. The company is expected to send letters out to Sequoia owners about adding the brake override system separately from the ongoing recall campaign.
Toyota claims that the brake override system is not an integral part of the recall remedy, but is instead an added safety measure to boost the confidence of the company's customers.
