Just as plans were announced for Saab's bright, shiny future, one of General Motors' other orphans -- HUMMER -- has been granted a stay of execution. GM previously set a deadline of January 28 for completing the sale of HUMMER to Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co., but both companies have now agreed to extend that deadline to February 28. When we last reported on the sale, it appeared that GM had held up its end of the bargain, clearing the deal with U.S. government regulators and other interested parties. The holdup, then, would seem to be the Chinese government, which hasn't signed on the dotted line just yet. Viknesh has more details at Motor Authority.
