Last fall the folks at our flagship blog TheCarConnection.com covered the puzzling branding maneuvers at Chrysler, which included segregating Ram trucks as a separate brand from Dodge cars, SUVs, and crossovers. With this new branding strategy, would Ram's simply be Ram's and no longer Dodges?
Our colleagues over at PickupTrucks.com recently reported that President and CEO of the Ram brand, Mr. Fred Diaz, cleared the air over at the Ram Zone, the official blog for the brand. Mr. Diaz was quoted as saying, "I want people to understand that although we will market and brand our Ram trucks as Ram trucks, they will always and forever be Dodges."
Well, I guess that puts my mind at ease a bit. They're still Dodges! But, wait... then why did Chrysler go through all the trouble to try to create a separate Ram brand? This marketing hoopla is still lost on me.
