Another GM executive is making headlines for shooting off his mouth, and this time it's not Bob Lutz! Yes, as hard as it is to believe, Maximum Bob was not the culprit this time. GM Vice Chairman Tom Stephens issued a challenge to Ford involving a proposed tug-of-war between a GM and a Ford heavy duty pickup.

Mr. Stephens issued the challenge via PickupTrucks.com, proposing that a GM heavy duty pickup equipped with a redesigned 6.6-liter Duramax  diesel be chained to a Ford heavy duty powered by Ford's 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel engine. The folks at our flagship site TheCarConnection.com (TCC) quoted Mr. Stephens as saying, "I want to take our truck and Ford's and chain them together back-to-back. Then I want to have them pull against each other. I know our truck will beat theirs."

Just in case you might think Stephens was just blowing off steam, TCC reported that he confirmed three times that he wanted to see the challenge happen. The whole thing rings true with GM's aggressive strategies of late - think CTS-V Challenge.

Will Ford take Stephens up on his challenge? Only time will tell. We at AllPickupTrucks.com will keep you posted on any further developments. Until then, head on over to TCC for more coverage.
