Video: Ford Developing Biodegradable Plastics

"Sustainability" has become a watchword among automakers these days, but while most of the industry's high-profile environmentally friendly practices have to do with powertrains, considerable effort is also being spent on greening other parts of the car. For example, Ford's Plastics Research Team understands the benefits of using plastic in auto manufacturing, but they're developing ways to make it from renewable resources like coconut and soy -- thereby making plastic eco-conscious and reducing dependence on oil. That ought to please folks on either side of the aisle:
