It's high convention season here in the U.S., and while most of our attention is focused on Detroit, we've also got one eye on Las Vegas and the Consumer Electronics Show. There are a number of gearhead-oriented gadgets on the CES launch calendar, including two from Garmin: Voice Studio, a program that allows you to record your own navigation commands (e.g. "Turn right, stupid!"); and ecoRoute hd, a Bluetooth-enabled device that plugs into your car's onboard diagnostics port and posts fuel economy and other data to most Garmin devices (except the Nuvi 3xx and 6xx series). No word on VoiceStudio pricing, but the ecoRoute hd should ring in at $149. Time to plan ahead for the 2010 holidays... [Engadget via Autoblog]

  1. Thats great. So now when the GPS says "recalculating" because you missed your turn it will be your own voice that annoys you.

    Bad stuff?

  2. I used to have a friend who was so Southern and indirect that everything to come out of her mouth was practically the OPPOSITE of what she meant. "No, I'm totally fine with sushi" translated to "If I don't have pizza and a beer right now, I'm going to die". That sort of thing.

I can only hope that Margaret is nowhere near one of these things, or she (and anyone else driving her car) is going to be in serious trouble.
