The weirdest story on the automotive web this morning is the shakeup inside General Motors. Chevrolet chief Brent Dewar, who just presented a lot of the message at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, is stepping down to be replaced by James Campbell, and Buick/GMC's brand-new head is quitting after just eight days in the position. Are these aftershocks of the Henderson resignation, or is Whitacre cleaning house? Whatever the cause, there's a lot going on behind the scenes at GM these days.
A close second on the weird scale today is the return of Aston Martin Lagonda concept. Not quite an SUV, not really a wagon, and barely aesthetically acceptable, the Lagonda is the oddball from last Geneva that got everyone talking, and questioning the decision process that could lead to such a beast. Word today indicates that the vehicle is continuing to go through the design wringer, potentially on the way to--perish the thought--production. Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but $210,000 opens a lot of eyes.
At the other end of the Aston Martin aesthetics spectrum, the 2010 Aston Martin V8 Vantage is loose on the web, unofficially, and Motor Authority has the skinny on the updates that are coming, complete with a photo of the new car. New wheels, lower CO2 output and an upgraded Bang & Olufsen sound system are a few of the highlights.
On the celeb front there's a very nicely restored Ford Mustang GT500 belonging to Cam Gigandet--most notably of the Twilight movies--that'll have you yearning for the good ol' days.
Around the rest of the High Gear network, there's a look at spy shots of a possible BMW 1-Series fuel cell hybrid over at AllCarsElectric.com, the Dodge Challenger takes the top spot in Consumer Reports owner satisfaction at ChallengerBlog.com and FordReports.com looks at taking a holiday in a late model Mustang.
