2009 Chevrolet Traverse LS
I purchased a Traverse (LT2) FWD in October 2008. We have had it for 1 year and have approx. 13,000 miles on it.
This has been one of the best cars we have purchased ever. It is very comfortable and quiet, the seats are very comfortable over long distances, Your back does not hurt after a long trip of over 6 hours. We have the Captains chairs in the second row, and everyone who has sat back there for any time has commented how comfortable it is. We have used the third row many times and have put some large people back there- they have also commented on how easy it is to get in and how much room is back there.
The engine & transmission are the smoothest I have ever had. I noticed that there is no shake when you start up the engine, and also there is no steering wheel shake when at idle. People have commented to how quiet this is. It also drives a lot smaller than it is. It handles corners very flat. The ride is smooth but not flatly.
So far we have no problems that we had to take back to the dealer for. We did complain that in the beginning the transmission would get confused going around a 90 degree turn, and hesitate to downshift1 or 2 gears. A engineer for GM called, and said that since we purchased an early build version, there was a program fix, which we did and that fix pretty much eliminated any transmission hesitation.
I am a little disappointed on the gas mileage as we have been getting 16 around town and the best highway has been 22. I even changed the oil to Mobil 1 5-30 .
The 18-inch tires (Goodyear) are quite large and require some work to rotate, but are fairly quiet for their aggressive tread pattern. These tires are great in all weather conditions. They are just as good as full snow tires.
