The 2010 Lexus ES 350 faces some tough competition this year from Buick, Lincoln, Acura and Infiniti, so Lexus has decided to revamp the car to keep pace. A fresh look, a few interior tweaks and a technology update cap the new ES 350 with a mere $330 price increase over the 2009 model.
A revised front fascia, updated tail lights, a lightly tweaked streering wheel, reworked console and new interior trim options, plus Lexus' new Enform and Safety Connect telematics system bring the ES 350 up to what Lexus must hope is a competitive level. The 2010 ES 350 will definitely be competitive on price, starting from $34,800 plus a delivery fee of $875, for a total base price of $35,675.
Side mirrors with integrated turn indicators, chrome side-body molding, and rain-sensing wipers are new for 2010. The completely restyled front end is complemented by new 17-inch split-spoke alloy wheels.
Four new exterior colors are added: Truffle Mica, Peridot Mica, Satin Cashmere Metallic and Cerulean Blue Metallic. The total available is one less than last year, however, as five other colors were eliminated. On the inside you'll notice new steering wheel-mounted controls, a memory driver's seat and new trim choices.
The lightly redesigned center console has more storage space, while the standard leather-trimmed seating is available in a new Parchment color, bringing the total up to three colors. Brown Walnut and Espresso Bird's Eye Maple woods are also new.
To help you keep an eye on how you're driving, Lexus has fitted the Eco Drive indicator as a standard feature this year. Safety is also on the rise, with a total of 10 standard airbags now, thanks to the addition of rear side-impact airbags for 2010.
The subscription-based Enform with Safety Connect system is now available on the 2010 ES, but only the base Safety Connect system is included in all new ES 350s as standard. A one-year trial subscription to the Enform with Safey Connect service is included, however.
The 2010 ES 350 gets an updated Lexus Premium Audio system, a casual-speech voice recognition system in Lexus Navigation-equipped models, and all the standard Bluetooth, MP3, USB and auxiliary connectivity you expect from a modern luxury car.
The 2010 Lexus ES 350 will be arriving at dealerships later this month.
